The 986 Patent
The story of one of the biggest patent disputes in European history, over a patent for color graphics displays invented by Swedish genius Håkan Lans. What began as a dream of adding color to the everyday world of computing soon turned into a nightmare, involving high-powered lawyers, FBI and multinational corporations. The film is a fascinating documentary about Håkan Lans and his struggle to defend his patent against giant multinational corporations willing to do anything to avoid having to pay the inventor. The documentary features interviews with Noam Chomsky, Apple’s founder Steve Wozniak and Nolan Bushnell, founder of Atari.
